DUCKTRUCK
and
SHADOW
page
After owning a CRX V-Tec for some years
( and paying a lot of speeding tickets ) Cora decided it
was time for something a little slower, yet special. She
found it at a Citroen show here in Utrecht. It's a 2CV from '87, converted to a
pick-up, built by D.Blaauw, 2 CV restorer in
Lunteren. Talking about a little slower :))
It's got a new chassis, new tires, new
suspension etc. It's also got a new registration as a
pick-up.
We picked it up ( no pun intended )
Friday 11th. The guy that built it will put a Stainless
Steel truck exhaust up along the driverside of the cabin,
as soon as it arrives from England.
It's actually a 2CV cut in half, the
rear section is a steel tubecage with a rounded
polyesther backside ( scanned pictures will follow ). The
front suspension is from a different type of Citroen, the
Ami, which lowers this 2CV nicely. I never understood
people riding these " Ugly Ducklings", but I
have been riding around in it this weekend and my whole
idea about this car has changed: It's fun!!
Under the pick-up bed is the spare
wheel and the fueltank.
The powermonster: 603 cc and about 21
HP.
The interior is standard apart from the
bench. No luxury here.
Cora had a "truck exhaust"
installed by the builder. Originally it's a sidepipe for
a "Lomax", a kind of sportscar on 2CVbase.
Looks good, but don't get the
impression that it changed anything in sound or
perfomance :)
Cora traded her CRX VTEC for a nice
little motorcycle: a Honda Shadow 600 cc Special.
Now all she needs is a motorcycle
driverslicense ;-)
