Finally:

the engine back together and into the frame !

UPDATE 05-11-2005

And judging by the phonecall and Emails I received yesterday Paul found that time to re-assemble the engine, he told me I can pick it up next week, just needed to do the valves/heads and calculate how the headers need to be made.

November 19th 2005:

After waiting for 2 years and one month Niels and I started putting the engine back in the frame. We started at 10.30, had lunch at 13.00, dinner at 17.00 and took the engine out once to cut the APE headbolts functioning as nuts for the enginebolts, so they wouldn't touch the frame ( they are longer that the standard nuts are ) and started the engine for the first time @ 19.45 !!!

Look at those proud faces !

After letting it run for a while to get the engine nice and warm we decided to go for a very short and slow run, Paul told us not to rev the engine and we didn't, just rode it on idle for a couple of meters to get the feel of the bike again. Now all we have to do is torque the headbolts and build the VMax up again with it's bodywork !

NOVEMBER 12 2006

I realise I didn't do any updates on my VMax-saga, mainly because my serverspace was full. I removed some pics from a couple of pages and can add some text now.

VMax is doing great, did about 3000 kilomters last summer without any major problems, just plugs fouling due to rich mixture. We'll sort that out some day, I'll just ride around with two clean plugs and the tool in my backpack ;-)

I still have to have the specially calculated exhaustpipes made, but don't really want to take the bike apart again after being in pieces for over 2 years.

Polished NOS-bottle looks cool, just a bit more work to keep it clean. Also the new scoops look cool:
