PAGE 7 OF CHANGES TO MY VMAX

It had to happen: The 7th page of the things I've changed on my VMAX.

I saw the next modification on the messagelist of the Yahoo Vmaxclub by Thomas Powell, and as it was a usefull one, I did it too. An oilpressuregauge!! Buy a Kawasaki Drain Plug P/N 92001-1183 with a 22mm o-ring replacing the Yamaha plug on the rightbottomside of your engine. Drill and tap for 1/8" NPT to accomodate the Zodiac oiltube and 90 degree f/f elbow ( #233407 and #233405 ), buy a liquid filled oilpressure gauge ( mine is from the Motorcycle Storehouse # 904449 ). It was hard to find an gauge without "Live to Ride" or "V-Twin" on the face : )). It's way down at the engine, but even with the big scoops and VGasstacks it's still very visible!

The next picture shows a modification I had rather not seen or have experienced. I had my wheel adapted to an 18' rim some time ago and last Sunday I noticed my reartire was losing air. I took the rearwheel to the tireshop and when they took the reartire of it appeared that the rim had split in two!!!!!!!

I've taken the wheel to the guy that makes these wheels ( the rims being from Fischer in Germany ) and he'll replace it under waranty ( duh ). He's already working on a new wheel and gave me a 15" original item so I can still use the bike.

As an update it's "nice" to know it took a well known company like FISHER WHEELS 10 weeks to replace the wheel!!! Glad I finally have it back!

Next change is the nice tailpiece I bought at the VMax meeting in Putte, Belgium from Hennie Raats ( again ), made by Class in Germany. It's a kind of clip-on plastic tailpiece over a very good passengerseat, so Cora can still comfortably come along for the ride.

Well, I lied a little with the first picture. It's still in it's original color but Ton was so kind to Photoshop a paintjob on it, so I could see what it'd look like. Hmmmmmm......yes, I like it :-)

See, even with the plastic piece off it looks good. Taillight is a Ducati item.

And this the actual painted item, weather is too bad to put the bike outside for an overall shot at the moment.

Because of the new fairing and because I gave away my speedo to Mike Sayers of the VMaxTechList ( after his crash ) I had to make this new bracket for the speedo/revcounter/triptometer, voltage-, temperaturemeter and "worktime"counter. It also holds the shiftlight and a toggleswitch with a LED in it for the lights.

I also received the big fueltank from EVO-TEC through Uncle Festers. Looks good, but I'll wait for the good wheather to be over before I'll take the bike apart ( again ). Still have to figure out where to make an extra connection for the extra fuelpump on the NOS-system. The new fueltank only has a reserveconnection in the bottom, no drainplug anymore.

This is the bike on it's way to Hennie Raats' VMaxshop for a new black aluminum USD fork, new Stainless Steel brakelines, new carbon DOMA exhausts, with shorter cannisters and more free-flowing connections from the downpipes. I'll also have the seat re-upholstered in rougher material.

No, that skinny person on the bike is not me, it's my buddy Arjan. Use your imagination to see what the bike looks like with me on it: add 40 kilo's to the driver :-)

December 15th 2001: Picked up my new Simpson RX8 helmet from Frans de Weerdt Special Painting. Same lay-out as the front of my new fairing.
