FINAL RESULTS OF THE TUNING OF MY VMAX

The incredible happened: After "only" 5 months waiting MEGACYCLE delivered the Stage 2 cams. When Phillipe put them in the VMax, that upped the RHP from 125.7 to 137.5. Dynosheets on the bottom of this page. The VGas carbs added another 13.2 RHP.

Picked up the bike today ( 23-02-2001 ) in France. Unfortunatly the wheather doesn't permit a good testride, snow and rain, but I went around the block and it feels incredibly strong. It should:

Rearwheel Horse Power is 143RHP/11.9 M-kg without - and an unbelievable 180RHP/17.9 M-kg with the NOS!!!!

Testing it from the trafficlights with Arjan on the back, in town and only just trying what would happen I couldn't keep the frontwheel on the ground.

The bike sounds awesome through the velocitystacks, looks are really "Hot-Rod" .

Below: the screencovers for keeping out the rain ( and dogs, cats and little children :)) )

We could have upped it to 150/200 RHP which would have meant a Hindle 4-1 exhaust giving the extra 5 RHP above 8000rpm and bigger NOS nozzles for the extra 20 RHP on Nitrous, also in the higher regions. I don't like the 4-1 type exhausts and specially not the Hindle and the extra RHP's wouldn't be useful anyway, that high up in the rev-department.
The shiftlight blinks at 9000 and the rev-limiter kicks in at 9500 revs.

I'll keep it this way through summer ( Wrong !!! See below ), only thinking about buying EVO-TEC's bigger ( as in 20.5 liter ) fuelreservoir to get a chance to pass a fuelstation once in a while without having to stop to fill the tank again.

Update March 4th: Like I mentioned at the beginning of this whole story, I cannot leave this bike alone. Had it on the VMax Clubstand at the Utrecht Motorshow and while I was walking around I saw some nice accessories, one of which is actually usefull: an Exactrep 6 liter fuelreservoir, of which the bottom is the top of the original tankdummy on which they welded an extra shell in the form of the VMax shape. Like the original dummy, only much bigger and wider. It makes my bigger scoops looks small again. Pictures of the item below, painted to match the rest of the bike, again by Frans de Weerdt Special Painting in Utrecht. I also bought a Badan bellyspoiler which I wanted for a long time, out of which I had to cut out the space for the NOS bottle on the left side. Scary, putting a hacksaw into my new stuff, but it worked out very nice.

As you can see, it's a lot higher as well, the instrumentspanel is almost hidden in the front of the tank.Luckily I can still reach the NOS flip-up switch. I cannot see the fuelpressure gauge anymore without leaning forward. No real need to see it: the NOS system has a fuelpressure switch, shutting off the NOS when the fuelpressure drops.

It also covers the top of the scoops. To see the real difference scroll up to the pictures of the stacks. Picture below before special paint (duh)

With the higher tank and the longer and lower bellyspoiler it starts to look like a bodybuilder on steroids. Love it !!

By the way: only 2 weeks after the paintjob was finished I went to the Main Event at SANTA POD, England and saw a very goodlooking fairing on one of the dragbikes. I contacted the owner and found out he was from Germany and the fairing was a Busch WOLF, styled after a SIMPSON RX helmet. I came home from England on Monday, looked it up on the Internet on Tuesday, called the manufacturer, got on my bike, went to Germany and picked up the WOLF fairing. It was on my VMax the same evening. Frans de Weerdt Special Painting in Utrecht did me a special favour and had it painted to his excellent standard within 3 days so I could show off at the Joure Dragraces this weekend (10-06-2001). Look at the difference from the picture above.

Evil eyes, reminds me of FOGGY.

It's got a slotted billet aluminum piece in the front, just under the headlights, which are off an Aprillia 250 scooter by the way.

At UNCLEFESTERS.COM I've ordered BRM's 20.5 liter fueltank, that goes in the place of the original "15" liter VMaxtank ( 12.5 effectively ). Together with the 6 liter EXACTREP tank ( effectively 4.5 liter ) that means I will have 25 liter of fuel in my VMax. It has been rumoured that it might arrive in June.

FINALLY I CAN PASS A FUELSTATION WITHOUT STOPPING FOR FUEL :)))
