Changes to my VMax : ARTICLE IN: |
PAGE 8 OF THE VMAX SAGA Yes, it has happened: the 8th page of my Vmax's metamorphosis. I went by the VMaxshop to monitor the progress of the work on my bike: new black USD fork, new DOMA exhausts and have the seat re-upholstered. Good thing went by, because they had put in a aluminum colored fork !! They've changed them to the black ones in the pictures below, only the calliperbrackets need to be replaced with black ones. Pretty picture ( made by Niels ) Looking you straight in the face ( picture made by Niels ) And how about those new DOMA's; shorter cannisters and a much better flowing connection from the downpipes. And the seat re-upholstered and better connected to the bigger fueltank Pedro van Hout Fijnmechanica in Heeze machined off 3 cm of the rearstacks, so they flow better with the line of the bike and to provide room for my knees. He also made these rings so the stacks are much better attached to the carbs, original installation is real flimsy, the stacks could be knocked off without effort. Now that problem is solved. He's working on my new swingarm too, a double braced one. One of these below will be mine. It just needs a little bracket welded on underneath for the underslung calliper I've have been planning for ages. They are upsidedown in the picture , but I bet you knew that already, didn't you? I've ordered 2 new floating frontdiscs from RIWI in Austria, production starts at the end of this month ( January 2002 ). Hope to have them on the bike before the bikeshow in February in Utrecht. Update on the disks: September 2002. I think RIWI is not interested in selling and getting money, as they have never returned any of my mails about the disks. I liked the disks in the picture below, but I have to go and look for different ones. Sa w some nice "sawblade"ones in Performance Bike from Braking. Think I'll try to get in touch with them for a quote on that disktype. From BRM ( of the 22 litertank fame ) I received the frame angles in the picture below some time ago. I ordered them through Steve at Unclefesters.com of course ! When the bike is back in my garage I will put them on ( or rather under ) the bike. Means I have to change the brackets for the bellyspoiler ( again ). They go from the bolts for the original footrests to 2 M8 holes in the underside of the engine, supposedly strengthening the frame/engine connection. We'll see !! Below, 2 pictures of my bike on Frans de Weerdt's stand at the Motor2002 Bikeshow in Utrecht. Pics made by Unstable ( thnx ). Fairing and helmet next to each other. I ordered 4 new filter-"condoms" from Jon at UFO-Performance for the carbs stacks, because the rearones started to wear from my knees rubbing the rims of the stacks. He sent me 4 new black ones and as a surprise put 4 yellow ones in the envelope as well !! They look good on the yellow bike, I'll save them for the shows the bike will appear on later this year. Told you he is a nice guy ! My bike is a featurebike in Motor Emotion - a Dutch Motorcycle magazine - this month ( September 2002 ). Nice pictures and article by Ralf Bretveld . You can read the article on Ralf's site through THIS link. I've put the pictures he made for the article on a seperate page, click "Pictures by Ralf" at the bottom of this page For those of you Dutch viewers that haven't seen my bike in the "flesh" yet, it will be on the Street or Track show in Nieuwegein in the weekend of 30 November/1 December 2002 and at the BigTwin MotorSale in the weekend of 8/ 10 December 2002 in Rosmalen. My bike was featured in the German "Fighters" magazine November 2002, scans of the article are HERE One month later December 2002 my bike was featured in the English Streetfighters magazine, scans of that article are HERE, webspace courtesy of www.vmaxchat . com, thanks Jon. On the Street or Track Streetfightershow, December 2002 mentioned above I won 2nd place ( between 2 bikes from Belgium, which might indicate that I have the best Dutch Streetfighter ;-) ). Picture below by Jon, one of the organisors. See the cool trophee in my right hand? It also include one year free All-Risk insurance by the sponsoring insurancecompany ! Actually it was third party only, but Number one being from Belgium the insurance company couldn't work that insurance out so they gave it to me ! FUNNY DETAIL: I bought the mirrorsticker in the picture below in America through Ebay.
